Clickstream Technologies adheres to the principles set forth in the Safe Harbor framework as established by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personally identifiable information provided to Clickstream Technologies from the European Union.
At ClickStream, we take privacy very seriously. In studies utilizing the ClickSight and/or MacSight tool, all data collected is done so anonymously, and we are careful never to collect personal information such as contents of documents or of websites you visit.
All data collected is combined with data from hundreds of other users to identify statistical trends, not individual behavior.
ClickStream is committed to protecting your privacy and will not share your personal details with any marketing agency or advertising firm. We are devoted to the protection of our panelists and the use of ClickStream's resources to make better software.
ClickSight and MacSight are tools built to help improve software by providing a feedback mechanism to software creators. It is not spyware and will not promote advertising on your system.
Data collected by the ClickSight and MacSight tools include the following:
• The text on the controls where you click
• The text on the title bars of the windows where you click
• Keyboard shortcuts you perform (Control key and Alt key combinations)
• The date and time when you click on these controls
• The URLs of sites visited
• Heuristics about your machine: memory, processor speed, processor type, display information, operating system, installed applications, installed fonts
ClickStream will use the data only for the purposes below:
• Assist software makers to create software based on usage
• Internal tests
ClickStream will not use data for any other purposes such as:
• “Spam” marketing (unsolicited email)
• “Phishing” (attempts to gain information through false pretenses)
• “Pre-texting” (Using data to access personal information)
Participation in the ClickStream Survey is voluntary; at any time, users may choose to uninstall the tools. Further, participants may request at any time and without reason access to data produced by their machine and/or that ClickStream destroy all data associated with their machine.
ClickStream does not collect and maintain personally identifiable information from ClickSight and MacSight users. ClickSight and MacSight are never downloaded without the clear consent of the participant. Once consented, participants themselves install the ClickSight or MacSight tool. ClickSight and MacSight will not identify personal information.
ClickSight and MacSight can be easily uninstalled at any time, although we typically ask that participants keep it installed for 30 days.
ClickSight and MacSight are closed systems. Participants download ClickSight and MacSight from a secure server, and data is sent directly back to our server. The transfer is direct and anonymous. No personal information, such as a participant's name or address, is recorded, so personal information never leaves the computer. The data ClickSight and MacSight collect is used solely for research within the context of a specific study, and that data is never shared with outside companies. If ClickStream collects a user’s email address, it is done with the users consent, and only to inform the user of a sweepstakes win, or to contact the user for future ClickStream studies.
ClickStream may occasionally update this privacy statement. When we do, we will also revise the "last updated" date at the top of the privacy statement. If information will be used in a new and material way, we will send out a notification email to affected individuals 30 days in advance and then post a notice on our homepage advising individuals of the change or revised privacy notice and when it will take effect.
Our Commitment To Children's Privacy: Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.
